Staff & Board Members
Here are the Staff and the Governing Board of Families Living Well Society, whose role is to oversee the day-to-day activities of the organization. You can also view brief descriptions of each individual member below.
Elaine is principle and owner of E. Mulder Design Services providing consulting services on building development, design and construction for over twenty five years. Elaine has been actively involved in several non-profit organizations such as Rehoboth, Mustard Seed, CLAC and a number of churches in their development projects. She has volunteered and assisted single parents and youth programs for over twenty five years within the realm of diaconal work, elder, coordinator and outreach as member of Christian Reformed Church. Elaine has served on the Families Living Well Society Board since 2008 and previous to this time was involved with the Single Parents Group.
Volunteer and Support Coordinator
Jenna originally joined Families Living Well as a Childcare and Youth Volunteer in January of 2015, and in November of 2016 she had the opportunity to come on board in a greater capacity. A graduate of the King’s University with a BA’s degree in Sociology, Jenna is able to apply her skills working both with Families Living Well, and at Inglewood Christian Reformed Church as their Youth Program Coordinator. Jenna has enjoyed spending many summers dedicated to mentoring kids and fostering relationships at Camp Nakamun, and continues these mentoring relationships throughout the year. In her free time Jenna enjoys reading books, eating brunch, and exploring the outdoors on foot, skates, or a good pair of rollerblades.
Pete, together with his wife Yvonne, has been involved with the 10-year plan to end homelessness in Edmonton. Pete is currently working for Homeward Trust Edmonton as a Manager, Landlord Relations. Previous to that, Pete worked for 15 years with persons with disabilities, including managing a camp facility designed for people with disabilities, working with 200 volunteers per year. Pete has been married to Yvonne for 33 years and they have 4 children and 4 grand children. Pete and Yvonne enjoy an active church life at Covenant Christian Reformed church where they have been members for the past 20 years. Pete enjoys spending time with his family and travelling. Pete joined the board of Families Living Well in 2011 and is looking forward to working with other board members in delivering its great services.
Pam has been working for Jasper Place Child and Family Resource Society & West Edmonton Parent Link since 1996. In that time, she went from working in the Preschool Room to working as one of the Program Coordinators & FCSS worker with the centre. She found her way to Families Living Well in 2010 and is excited to start a new year as the Board’s Secretary and building relationships with families and co-workers! Pam is a huge advocate for children and families. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and singing.
Jessica is employed with Alberta Association for Community Living (AACL) supporting students with developmental disabilities at Concordia University College. She has been employed at many non-profit organizations supporting children and adults with disabilities. Organizations include AACL, Rehoboth, Abilities Society and Protegra. Jessica completed a diploma in Disability Studies at Grant MacEwan College and is currently working on a degree in Human Service Administration. She has volunteered for several non profit organizations supporting vulnerable people such as Rehoboth, Mustard Seed, Families Living Well Society and CRWRC Mission work. Jessica has volunteered with Families Living Well for three years and was elected to the board in 2013.
Janis is a Senior Research Coordinator at the U of A in the faculty of Agriculture, where she runs human nutrition intervention studies and clinical trials. Prior to research, she worked at the Canadian Diabetes Association as a Public Programs and Services Coordinator. Janis has a Science in Nutrition from the University of Alberta. She has volunteered with Families Living Well Society for 4 years, including facilitation of the Healthy Living summer program. She loves to work within the community, spend time outside with her husband and puppy, camp, garden, and visit family and friends.
Lorraine currently works with Edmonton Public Schools providing administrative support to various schools. She has also worked for the Progressive Conservative Caucus as a Legislative Assistant for two MLA’s. For nine years Lorraine served on the board at Dayspring Presbyterian Church. Also, she was treasurer on school council committees and treasurer of Greenfield Community League. Lorraine has been a member of Toastmasters International, District 42 since 2007. She was recently elected District Director, 2016-17, the highest ranking office in the District for the newly formed District 99. She enjoys helping people develop their communication and leadership skills within the program. Lorraine is married to Tom and they have four grown children. In 2017 she plans to return to teaching yoga, having achieved her 200-hour teaching certificate. She is eager to share her work experience and skills with Families Living Well in hopes of making a difference for families using the program.
Ralph retired in 1999 after owning a commercial painting company for 40 years. During his career, Ralph served on the Alberta Decorators Association (Chairperson and Board Director). His retirement has given him more time to help low income families. While Ralph is a proud father of four children and grandfather of twelve, for over 25 years of supporting single parents, he is grandpa to hundreds more. Ralph is an avid supporter of many Christian organizations, including CLAC, King’s University College, the Christian Credit Union and the Edmonton Christian School Society. Ralph was also a member of council for 16 years as both Elder and Deacon for West End CRC. When Ralph has time between all of his volunteer work and family obligations, he enjoys hiking, traveling, sailing, and model shipbuilding. He has served on the board since 2008.
